Gotta Stop Snoring

It sound so simple  keeping your mouth shut, prevents snoring but how do you do that? Snoring is a very common problem these days, almost 45% of the people are suffering and that is without the partners who are also not sleeping that well because of this problem. And because this is such a huge problem we will look at the keeping you mouth shut and other snoring remedies in this article.

Breathing through your nose

One reason for a snoring problem is that a person sleeps with his mouth open rather than breathing through his nose. Common snoring remedies help the person to breathe out of his nose rather than his mouth. One reason for breathing through the mouth is closed nasal passages.

If allergies are an issue, taking allergy medications at night will help as one of the many snoring remedies. If allergies are not a problem but the nasal passages still are somewhat closed, there are snoring remedies like nasal dilation strips that go across the bridge of the nose and help to hold those passages open during the night.

Other snoring remedies that help a person learn to breathe through his nose are chin straps and mouth sealing devices. These snoring remedies gently hold the mouth shut during the night so that the person is more likely to breathe out of his nose, thus reducing or stopping the snoring problem. There are also snoring remedies like mouth pieces that are specially fitted to a person’s mouth, usually by a dentist, so that the tongue is held into place during the night so that it does not fall back into the throat, blocking the passage of air and causing snoring.

Simple snoring remedies like sleeping position

There are other snoring remedies that help a person to learn to sleep on his side rather than his back, which is typically a problem position for snorers. There are snoring remedies like pillows that are specially made to form to a person’s head and shoulders when sleeping on his side so that it is more comfortable than sleeping on his back.

There are also mattresses that are designed to do the same thing, thus helping to ensure sleeping on the side, keeping the mouth shut and reducing or eliminating the snoring problem.

There are types of snoring where these snoring remedies will not work, this is especially so in the case of severe apnea. This is actually a very dangerous problem because it sounds like the person is snoring while in fact the person stops breathing and wakes up snoring because he is chocking. There are  snoring remedies that can help also with apnea but you should always use these after talking to your doctor.
